Champagne H. Blin Brut Tradition – Our ‘house’ Champagne ticks all our boxes. Rounded yet crisp with citrus fruit and notes of yeast and biscuit, this is great as an aperifif or partner to a host of food. We tried it with smoked salmon, game pâté and aged Cheddar and it worked with everything.
Picpoul de Pinet ‘Roches Saintes’ – Picpoul as it should be: bright and fresh with flavours of citrus and sunnyshine. A classic partner to seafood and fish.
Valdocea Albarino – A vibrant Albarino with green apple and citrus flavours and a certain savoury character. The concentration of fruit and freshness works well with spicy food.
Alain Chavy Bourgogne – Rich and racy, this is a gem of a white Burgundy from Alain Chavy. The clean citrus fruit is beautifully balanced by notes of toast and vanilla. Another friend to fish, both if it’s cooked simply or is in a creamy sauce.
Loudenotte Viognier – Apricot and peach flavours abound in this full and fruity Southern French Viognier. The rich fruit means it can work well with full-flavoured dishes such as creamy mushhroom risotto or tomato-based pasta.
Eirados White Port – Honeyed and fruity with nutty hints, this White Port works well with soft cheese, or fruit-based tarts such as almond and pear. Mix 50% Port with 50% tonic for a fab ‘P+T’ as well.
